In total bliss, lived they amongst trees
For miles as far as eyes could reach
Enjoyed the sunshine, rain and wind
A carpet of pink flowers like these
Man came along and ploughed the field
Uprooted stalks with fragrance sealed
Replaced garden to land of concrete
With worms in pocket but no birds to feed
Lost in the city in heat and dust
No love to cherish no moment of trust
Diseased and neglected, they grow in vain
Like a street urchin, in hunger and pain
Who deserves what, can anyone predict?
