Easy does it

Easy is as easy does it,
If I put my soul to decide.

Climb the tree to pluck the fruit
but why?
I would use a long stick
Walk a mile to see a friend
but why?
I would rather video call
Journey through some thousand miles
but why?
I will rather read a travel book

Why must i choose the difficult path
When there are many easy solutions
I will only sweat a lot for a task
If there is sunshine at the end of the tunnel.

Give me a theme

I want to write a poem
but don't have the theme
my words are in an open field
lost without any dream
roaming in mid air
they have no branch
to sit and prune their hair
without a theme, they are nude
neither here nor there....

In a Distant Land

No traffic beeps, no hawker call
No children hop around my yard
No neighbors comes to share their views
No knock on my door at mid-afternoon

In silence, I sit in a distant land
Where sounds are just some whistles in air
The ruffle of winds and swoosh of trees
Bounce up and down on waves at sea

Its only when in festival times
Chanting puncture serenity and chime
Tapping feet move from town to lanes
Waltz the town to burning debates

The natives dress in floral gowns
Full of jest, they dance around
Life breaks dream to come alive
Its time for birds to rests for a while.

The noisy parade breaks silence at sea
The town now dons a carnival treats

Rains

Rain has become human today
frustrating and nagging
noisy and weepy
paralyzed my movements
with its angry storm
Rain! Go away! duh!

Arrested on train - Limericks

16 hours she talked nonstop
On mobile phone she went ‘bark bark’
Passengers were bored
They seized her phone
And got her arrested by Amtrak staff

Sweet Dreams

friend wishes me sweet dreams
even though she knows
I m diabetic
she want to kill me
sweet is not good for me
even in dreams
she is wicked because
when she wishes me 'sweet dreams'
she giggles....

Two Days Ago

Two days ago
I rejoiced
when cloud cleared
tearing off its fluffy cloak
dropping droplets of rain
few at first
then some more
and then many more
with a whoosh sound
of its soft breeze
and I was content,

but that was two days ago
now it is back
to its scorching heat,
with just a trickle
of sticky sweat on my cheeks.

Some More Nonsense Verse

It takes patience to listen
Brave are those who rant endlessly
Not caring it has not any audience
Rattle pattle chow chow
Glibber dibber they go on and on
So much endurance the wax in the ears
Yawns too loud n melts down
Walks angrily out to the cheeks
To see the babbler and bend his knees

I want to tell a story
of fire files and rain
like sparklers in the moonlight
they burn and fall into drain
but one fire-fly reincarnates
to tell a sweet tale
but since it has droppings on deaf ears
I will narrate its refrain

so Jack and Jill came back with a fool
with bags full of tin and copper
Jack wore a crown, but Jill was all browned
having swam all day on beaches in gown
singing ooh la la, ooh la la, whole day thereafter

cute little kids sing non-stop rhymes
the traffic stops still with their deafening noise
Jack and Jill, Hansel and Gretin all climb the bean stalk
sat cross-legged, to explore the chocolate house
Jack climbs down the bean stalk, and frightens the giant with a mouse

Just for day I went across
the seven seas to taste the salt
the dreaded society grew, all bots
sharing fishes and dogs in their thoughts
poem they call, banish them all
give the award and cash to only one who uses a towel

So Adorable

he speaks only monosyllables,
he speaks with his eyes,
his body language is so perfect
his squeals, a delight,
he can relate everything he wants,
he attracts full attention every time..
yeah,
he is just a 21-month-old-child.

he knows all his commands
will be obeyed day and night,
when he is ignored,
he will cry with all his might,

I know
he is a bully, with an adult mind,
Oh Gawd!
But he is such an adorable child.......

The Fisher Woman

Oily faced fisher woman
Does her rounds in my lane in turns
Her sari tucked tight between the slits
Of her fully formed round bums
She feeds the crows, all gills and fins
For fleshy fish, demands cash
Late evenings does some spiny spins
At night clubs, controlling trash
For bad guys who won’t listen to her
She suffocated them with fishy smell
But otherwise she is dancing, enjoying
And flashing her fake jewels

Musical

I tried to sing today
The same tune that we crooned yesterdays
There was no life
Did you take that warmth away with you?

The words flowed easily,
Cascading memories, sliding one over another
But the images were blurred
Do you have the negatives with you?

There was rhythm in the music
But my heart did not bleat
It stood still
Do you know the tempo to that tune?

If you decide to come over this side
Bring back those notes
I need to re-wrap my body for eternity

April Platform Challenge: Day 2

Today’s Goals

Short term plan
Wake up early, brush my teeth
Wash my face, have my tea
Showered and dressed, go to coffee shop
Meet the professional web designer who is on top
Share notes with her to polish my site
Walk to post office to extract the cash
Long time, It’s frozen in the bank
Buy some clothes and pair of shoes
Walk down the street to have some meals
One more errant I have to do for a friend
Check her house to see all is well
Pay her bills, check the lights
Warn her maid to clean her house
Come back home and check my mails
Maybe snooze in the middle of the day
Evening might, go visit a friend
To check if she is fine and well
Stricken with cancer, I am told
But brave she is, now on medication
Home bound now, doesn’t walk on the road
Come back home and back to work
To complete my book that’s now a bore

Long term plan
Build a stronger bond with my friend.

April PAD Challenge - Sestina

From night to day, she read his verse
Loved random stranger on network site
His chats was long and full of heat
She glowed from warmth, basked in joy
Even crept closer to his emotional bytes
Across thousand miles, she found a friend

Soon, born was the desire to meet this friend
For a book launch, invited he, to hear his verse
She had cherished his poems on bytes
Excitedly, she invited her offline friends on site
To meet this stranger and share her joy
Whom she never truly knew but felt the heat

In the middle of the afternoon, in scotching heat
They set out to meet her online friend
Famous and popular was he, they felt the joy
At hearing him on live, as he read his verse
He basked in fame, waved at crowd at the site
But expressions were unreal, so were his sound bytes

He was indifferent, not so warm like on bytes
His tone was cold, in his words, no heat
Stood nervously, unsure of herself at the site
Failed he to acknowledge her as a friend
Even though she recited, over and over, all his verse
He stared at her, his face devoid of joy

Rejected, lonely she felt no joy
Saw the caravan of lies under the cloud of bytes
Was that just random chats of unstring verse
Carelessly marching thoughts without any heat
No way was this expected of a friend
Whom she had loved each day on twitter site

She un-friended him from social site
In offline real friend she found more joy
Whom she met, touched, he was true friend
In virtual world, there are just bytes
In real world, there is much warmth and heat
Life is smooth with pleasant verse

Search no friend on network sites
In emotional verse there be some joy
But on virtual bytes there breeds no heat.

More Nonsense Verse

You cheat on me everyday
I have decided
no more tests for you
keep her, I need to rest
I have realized
you don't brush your teeth everyday

Your dog climbed the steps
fell off on a beer bottle
how careless can you be
to bring a drunkard for coffee
who walks on just two paws
Leaving footsteps on my lawn
Go away,
There is no mad hatter party

Nonsense Poems

one by one dreaded poets come
scoop they say, for a verse that's scum
compose they do after a shot of rum
but their words so terrible that I need to run
they rejoice thinking it's all fun
each with cheeky poems, recited out of turn
I wait, hoping they will entertain some
and have a last laugh when its is all undone

Bartender’s society, all delicacies spread
On the side is the verse that drools during fest
Embarrassed, they sneak beneath the table mat
But their voices spice up the dinner jest

Happy Birthday to my Cousin

With every passing year
The affection grows
Our bonds gets stronger
As we grow wiser
People notice and wonder
If it's just a passing phase
They are unaware of our summers
Spent apart
Sometimes faraway
In a distant land
How unsure we are
If we will ever meet again
The words begin to pause
We have nothing to say

But each year the memory blends
and inextricably binds
yet it isolates.

Blessed is the day
that brought you in to this world
and painted my zone
with tiny dots of love

Weird Friend

She knows she is weird
but what can she do?
She is up in the good times
She is down, when blue
She will order PaniPuri
but will drink just tea
But girl
She is my best friend
and does only
What weird people do

She writes strange histories
Of sinister facts
She churns out poetry
All in a jest
and sometimes when lonely
she beats her chest
But girl
She is my best friend
And a weirdest too

How can i tell her
She is my weird friend
How can I tell her
The truth
Every time we meet
When I see her,
Its a treat

But girl
She only does what
Weird people do

That's a Thrill

I stand trembling amidst the trees
Silently kissed by passing breeze
Icicle of desire on top of the hills
Melt in lust, now that’s a thrill

I stretch my arms and swing on birch
Left to right and right to left
Buds and flowers join in drill
Dancing now, that’s a thrill

The birds come tweeting on the trees
Flapping wings as they swing with me
Wind is filled with loud clear shrill
Hear that? Now that’s a thrill

A warm soft vapor fills the air
Soaked in joy, to me they whisper
'I Love You'

Mom’s Sari

Mom’s sari is in my wardrobe
Untouched since last five years
White, a bit yellowed
But it hangs there next to my clothes
The fragrance is still there
Of lavender, the perfume
That she used after she bathe
It was one of her prized collections
Elegantly dressed
She wore only during special occasion
White, silky fine
The shine is still there
Mom is never coming back
She will never ever wear it
But it stands there in my ward robe
Know not till when

I can relax in India

When in Spain it's such a pain
Can't order food online
The distances are far apart
Meals don't reach home on time
I slog, I chop and cook each morsel
Before I munch. It's a crime
The food in Spain is oh-so bland
Cold meat or chicken fried
India is the place to be
On lazy days,when sublime
I stretch my limbs and might lay still
Yet the cooked food is served on time

Freedom to Xpress

You play with words
Creating hundred excuses,
it flatters me not.
It's the truth
I want to hear
even though I know
that your venomous biting facts
might slice my heart
I want to trust you
Just say
what is on your mind or
Keep quiet and
I shall read your eyes.

From today I grant you a freedom to express..
go ahead

Pre-Valentine message

I will be in coma till Valentine's day
I have heard 'love' brings much too much pain
the emotional arrows strike hard and bend
bleeding tears from our dearest friends

Freedom

lips are sealed
glued for ever
their quivered thoughts
generated ripples
 in the opinionated  world
that once had
freedom to squeak

Micro Poetry on Twitter

bit by bit
i removed pieces of glass
under my shoes
wore newer courage
and followed you

a bright idea was born in my head
but unfortunately had to mold it,
gift wrap it and
present it in the way
most suitable for you

in my mind's eye
it was a straight path
with rosy destination
but still got lost
in labyrinth of path with you

tied a string
to the feet of dove
and tasted the freedom
as I flew up in sky
without you

Story in 140 characters

Wrote this story in 140 characters

Memorized all love songs, lyrics touching her soul, TILL she met him offline. Then she stopped singing forever

Meeting

I met a friend after many years,
He wanted to know many things,
Winters spent,
Rainy days,
Moments of summers cherished,
I stood uncomfortable,
Balancing myself on his random thoughts

Saturday, January 14, 2012

Get well soon

The sun rays filters through your room,,
Pick up the grains of love,
Its just a phase of trying times
But I know you will soon be well.

Story in 140 characters

“There is no escape” she ran as fast as she could and quickly entered a hair salon to change her hair-style

She waited every evening for 6pm when children came to play and her loneliness rested for a while

The New Year Limericks

Now the New Year’s arrived, women swear
That they will stop living in constant fear
Bad men will be hushed
Their friend request to be flushed
Only those be welcomed who really care
