As the time unfolds,
you begin to recognize 
the one 
who is a true friend,

who overlooks 
your shortcoming and 
looks deep into your soul, 
 
who is not ashamed

but silently guides you 
to a safer zone, 
with a smile and eyes 
that spell 
'I understand'. 


From thousand friends 
that cluster around you like bees,
singing praises and 
enjoying the sweetness in you
but suddenly dwindle to naught 
leaving their sharp sting behind
when you are feeling low

that one true friend
